Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message of thanks to Manchester United fans after winning the club’s Player of the Year award.

The 37-year-old received the Sir Matt Busby Award after returning from last summer to enjoy a fantastic first season at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions as he proved to be a rare spark in a devastating season for United.

Ronaldo also won the club’s goal of the season, his spectacular strike against Tottenham in March garnering public support.

The Portuguese international dominated the shortlist, his strike second in the return match in Spurs.
