Manchester United and Erik ten Hag can sign the perfect £30m partner for Frenkie de Jong

Manchester United nee’ds to find a replace’ment for Nemanja Matic, the Serbian midfi’elder has now left Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay filled in as a defe’nsive midfielder for most of Ralf Rangnick’s tim’e as int’erim coach, but he didn’t have the positional se’nse to do well in the role. He often left wide spa’ces for the oth’er team to run into, leaving his centre-ba’cks open. When he had the ball, he didn’t make himself avail’able for passes, making it hard to build from the ba’ck.

So how does United solve the pro’blem? Well, it looks like Ten Hag wants to sign two midfi’elders to both help the team build through the mid’dle of the field and protect the defence.

Frenkie de Jong seems to be Uni’ted’s top target, and Ten Hag wants to reunite with him at O’ld Trafford. However, the Dutchman would be more effect’ive when he has the ball than when he doesn’t. So United mi’ght need to find a midfielder who is safe with the ba’ll but has more “bite.”

Enter Ibrahim Sangare. The 23-y’ear-old has had a great season for PSV Eindhoven this ye’ar. According to Sky Sports, both United and Chelsea a’re now interested in signing the player.

Sangare reportedly has a release cla’use of £30m (€35m), and he wants to move to the Premier Le’ague. Some United fans have even found an old pic’ture of the midfielder wearing the team’s zebra-str’iped third kit from last season on social med’ia.

Sangare was bought from French c’lub Toulouse by Dutch team PSV for £6.3m in the 2020/21 se’ason. Since then, he has become a key player for the Du’tch team. If he moved to United, he would join well-k’nown players like Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and J’i Sung Park on that list.

In PSV’s Dutch Cup win over Aj’ax, Ten Hag will have seen a midfielder who is comfortable mak’ing simple passes to more talented and creative play’ers. This means that he could work well with De Jong. He wou’ld have also seen Sangare’s defensive skills beca’use he constantly got in the way of how the United man’ager’s team tried to build up through the midfi’eld.

Sangare is incredibly smart ab’out where he puts himself on the football field, and this wo’uld serve him well in the Premier League. At just £30 mi’llion, this seems like it should be a no-brainer for Un’ited
